Conversation with a Colleague
In this piece, you can read about my conversation with my school's staff coach, Caralyn, about issues and questions related to Project-Based Learning (PBL). The piece ends with a brief description of my current approach to implementing PBL in the classroom.
Reform Proposal: Improving Assessment and Reporting Practices in District Schools
In this collaborative piece, fellow graduate student Janna Steffan and I propose an alternative to district standardized tests used to assess elementary students. An sample of the proposed performance assessment format is included to illustrate how assessment can be used to address the HTH design principle of Personalization. This piece also discusses the need for professional development and parent involvement in the areas of assessment and reporting.
Professional Study Group Summary Sheet
This summary sheet was used to document the outcomes and next steps for our school-based professional learning groups. I have included it here as evidence of working with colleagues to establish adult learning communities. It also includes a reference to a leadership project I undertook last year, which focused on assessing the effectiveness of our school's elementary report cards based on staff and parent feedback.
